Busy Moms Need Mentors

In the past few months, especially after I found a wonderful mentor, Carol Amato, I have really been encouraged in pursuing more of who I am with a confidence I had not known. Which by the way I highly recommend that you have a mentor or mentors in your life to encourage you with your home business success.

I will also add, invest in mentors for your personal success as well. Some of which will simply cost you your serious investment of time. But I also advice count the count of paying to have a wonderful mentor, it will be worth your investment.

In my last post I asked, Who Are You? Today, I want to focus on the importance of having a mentor who will help shape your life. An not only shape your life but I would say without a mentor to pattern yourself after, it will be very difficult to be successful. With that said, you will, of course, want to seek a mentor who is successful. I will share about a few of my own personal mentors and the reasons why I chose the mentors that are right for me.

My most important mentor of my life is Jesus Christ and I spend valuable time reading the Holy Bible. I learn a great deal from my spiritualHoly Bible mentor in the passages of this old age book. I not only learn about personal successful living in the scriptures I also learn about finances and successful home and business planning.

This archaic book to some has been a tremendous source of guidance in my life and in the lives of many who have put its teachings to the test. Above all the overall emphasis throughout the Bible speaks of our need for a Saviour, which to some may be misunderstood as a weakness. But I have learned that the Saviour of which the scripture passages speak of from Genesis to Revelation, being Jesus Christ, is certainly someone I desire to pattern my life after.

Because of the humbling teachings of the Bible I have learned to harness a very powerful resource that comes from the knowledge and expertise of others. I have been able to glean from others, my mentors, in such a way that it has given me a tremendous boost to getting closer to my personal vision. The key that has triggered this is to think of others higher than myself.

I am not talking from a self pity state mind where you are so afraid to do anything, that others seem so much better than you, I have been there and that is not it all. I am talking about a confidence that you know who you are and can express your own needs. For example when I desired to seriously learn how to be successful in my business as a woman I turned to Carol Amato who offers a wonderful mastermind group for the help I needed. Not to mention she is a wonderful person.

Marriage

When I wanted to grow in my marriage I turned to Juana Mikels an excellent communicator. She spoke my internal language because she has been an overcomer both spiritually and in her marriage. I needed to hear your perspective of success. Which by the way I highly encourage you that you keep your eyes open for her upcoming book, “Choosing Him All Over Again: A Story of Romance and Redemption” especially if marriage is an area in your life you need a mentor.

Now when IAbigail Miller desired to grow in my personal worship through the use of music. I began to look at a contemporary Christian music artists. I came across a conservative singer by the name of Abigail Miller. At first, I will admit that her music did not seem to fit my style. But I love music and enjoy a variety of styles, so I always like giving a music artist a try.

I took to heart of esteeming her above myself, willing to listen and my life has never been the same since. Her music absolutely speaks to my heart. I have been challenged to grow in my own creative desires. Abigail’s humble character leaves me in awe to surrender any talents, such as my ability to write, to Jesus Christ whom I love. Her music alone has been a real source encouragment in some of my saddest lonely hours, like when we lost our baby last year.

My mentors, aside from Jesus Christ, that I have mentioned above are predominately women and  share the same passion of serving Jesus Christ. The main reason is I can connect with them on a more open personal level. They are my friends that I know I can count on to encourage me. Trust is important when you are looking for a mentor especially those who, you will have a sense of closeness with and who will  certainly be a huge impact in your life.

Now since my life is fueled by the incredible teachings of the Bible I also reach out to other mentors such as Robert Plank and Lance Tamashiro. They have had a super impact in my life to get me past so many initial hurdles of endeavoring online with my passions. They have encouraged me to get out there, provided me with excellent tools and resources to overcome my fears and procrastination. We do not share the same views all around but we do share the same passion to challenge others to succeed.

I value my success in the person of Jesus Christ.

These are just a few people who I have sought out to shaped my life in becoming the success I desire to be. Recently, I have found a wonderful mentor that is certainly unleashing my writing potential and I hope to share more about that as I continue to learn. I have started violin lessons and of course I carefully chose my mentor. Lara, my online violin teacher is wonderful.

Every mentor I seek is to ultimately making me what God desires of my life. I value my success in the person of Jesus Christ who gave so much for me. I would love to be that difference in the lives of others.

The key to finding a good mentor will require humility on your part. You cannot learn from someone if you do not esteem them greater than yourself.

I will also add again that trust is also an essential part. Without trust you will not take the actions steps necessary for your success. So be sure the mentor(s) you choose are those you will trust to take you to to the next level of success.

I have chosen to surround myself with successful people that I desire to pattern different areas of my life after. You don’t have to have as many mentors as I do, just start with one, in one area that you desire to grow in right now. I encourage you to take the challange and find a mentor.

You are welcome to visit my mentors I listed above and see if they would be right for you. If not keep seeking and above all admit to yourself your need because such humility will more than pay for itself in a life of success and personal fulfillment.

    Hi Ann,

Thank you so much for the kind words – I count is a privilege to have gotten to know you and thank the Lord that he allowed our paths to cross.

Wonderful article and is very thought-provoking.

I think you’re wise because no one person can be an expert in all areas of life, so having more than one mentor is a great idea!

And, I didn’t know you played violin – awesome!

    Take care and talk soon,
    - Carol
